Behringer Explains “Leaked” Free Vintage Synth Plugin
Photo: Behringer
Behringer recently caused a stir in the music production community with the apparent launch and subsequent removal of its free synth plugin, Vintage. The company attributed the fleeting availability of the plugin to an "accidental leak," clarifying that Vintage has not yet been officially launched and the registration link for testers was unintentionally made public. While some users managed to access Vintage before its removal, Behringer emphasized that the plugin was not a collaboration with Tone2 Audiosoftware, dispelling confusion surrounding its similarities to Tone2's Saurus synth.
Behringer revealed that Vintage was designed by a renowned sound engine creator, teasing future releases of free or low-cost VSTs as part of a partnership aimed at empowering musicians. Despite the initial hiccup, Behringer remains committed to introducing Vintage and other plugins to the market, highlighting their dedication to supporting musicians who may not have access to high-cost music production tools. No date has been given for the actual release of the plugin.
